Formal training? Raw talent? Technical mastery? Emotional and soulful expression? You get all that with Marika Straw. Marika moved to Asheville from Oregon to live in the mountains, pursue her songwriting, learn about the south (although she's now learned that Asheville isn't the "real" south) and make a political impact in the state. She also sings traditional jazz, plays pipe organ in an Episcopal church, and plays the dhol, an Indian drum.
